The Right Lawnmower Can Make A World Of DifferenceChoosing a lawnmower can seem to be a difficult task, especially when you look at the wide range of styles and designs that are now available. However, by looking at some of the main types and their advantages and disadvantages it is possible to see exactly what type would suit you best, and therefore come to a decision fairly easily. Much depends on your budget, but also on the size of your lawn and the type of terrain, such as whether you will be dealing with rough grass or trying to mow on an incline or slope. This article, and the other articles on this site, will take a look at some of the various lawnmower choices and give you some pointers as to how to make the best choice. One of the most popular types these days is the electric lawnmower, mainly due to the fact that you do not have to worry about running out of fuel, and neither have the bother of having to refill a petrol tank. This is especially true if you have a very large lawn, since a petrol mower will often need to be refilled several times when mowing large expanses of grass. Electric lawnmowers are also usually fairly lightweight, which makes them very easy to maneuver and deal with narrow strips of grass, which can often be found alongside flowerbeds, for instance. For maximum maneuverability it may be worth looking at some of the cordless types, also known as battery-powered lawn mowers, since these can move anywhere in the garden without you having to worry about the length of the electrical cord. The disadvantage is that they are slightly heavier than the standard electric lawnmower, mainly due to the weight of the batteries, and you do need to make sure you have a spare battery so that the power does not run out half way through a mowing job. Powerful petrol mowers As mentioned above, petrol mowers can be quite heavy, and you also have the problem of making sure that the tank has enough gas to finish the job. The advantage of a petrol mower is that they do tend to be very powerful, and therefore can do the job very quickly and also are able to deal with very tough grass, as well as very long grass. If you have some very rough terrain, a petrol mower could be worth looking at, simply due to the fact that you will need one to get through the tough patches. Once you have decided which of these is best for you, it is usually a case of deciding on the size of the lawnmower itself. A push-behind mower, or self-propelled mower, is usually fine for an average-sized lawn, since you'll usually be able to do the job in a couple of hours. However, if you find that you have a fairly large amount of grass to cut it can be a good idea to look at some of the many riding mowers now on the market, since these will enable you to cut large areas of grass very quickly, without you having to expend any effort. Zero turn riding mowers If you have a lawn that has narrow strips of grass that may be fairly inaccessible, a zero turn riding mower should be considered, since this will offer reverse mowing capabilities in many cases, enabling you to mow in almost any part of the lawn. There are many great lawnmower manufacturers out there, and some of the more well-known ones include Husqvarna, Poulan, and John Deere. Buying a mower from one of these world class companies means you are almost certain to find a machine which will give you a great cut and also many years of good service. Take a look at some of the articles on this site to get more information about the various lawnmower types, including cylinder lawnmowers and reel lawnmowers. Once you've done this, take time to research some of the individual manufacturers and models in order to get the perfect lawn mower for you. |
